Can I transfer my Crosshair X license between stores?
Short answer: no. A Crosshair X license is permanently tied to the store and account it was originally purchased on, and there's no way to move it.
Between stores (Steam ↔ Epic ↔ Microsoft Store)
Each store runs its own separate licensing system, and there's no cross-platform infrastructure to link or transfer a purchase. If you want the app on a different store, you'll need to buy it there as well. Occasionally there are sales that can soften that, but they aren't tied to any single platform.
Between accounts on the same store
Licenses are also bound to the specific account that bought them. A Steam purchase can't be shared to your other Steam accounts, and a Microsoft Store purchase stays on the Microsoft account you bought it with. If you switch to a different account, you'd need to purchase again — but you always keep access on the original account.
Good to know
- Updates ship to every platform, so if an update looks "missing," check the in-app version first — it may already be current.
- Microsoft Store ties your license to your hardware ID. If you change your motherboard or CPU, wait a few days and relaunch; the Store re-recognizes your new hardware and restores the license automatically.
- The Steam version needs to be logged into the Steam account that owns it to run.
